12th November 2009: A ride to Glasson Dock.

Shortly after leaving Garstang we found that the road was closed to vehicles because of bridge repairs beside Whitters Hill, but we were able to get by without a problem.

Hardly a cloud in the sky as we ride in the sunshine along the Cockerham Moss track towards Moss Edge.

Heysham Power Station is on the horizon as we start to ride the bridleway across the foreshore of Cockerham Marsh.

Here Charlie reaches the tarmac at Pattys Farm after crossing the foreshore, what a beautiful day to be out on!

With Sunderland Point to the middle left we ride towards Crook Farm at Chapel Hill, before joining the bridleway to Glasson Dock.

Our lunch stop at the Lantern O'er Lune Cafe, Glasson Dock. Here we met the 'A' ride, Jim, who had rode up on the road from Garstang to meet us. It does seem a pity though, that only three riders turned up for what turned out to be a rather enjoyable thirty mile ride.

A brief stop to shed a layer, as we cycled along the Lune Coastal Path, before we crossed the A6 at Scotforth.

Crossing the ford near Sykes Farm as we head towards Holme Wood and Grize Dale.

Heading down Grize Dale now on the re-surfaced track, what a lovely route!

We exit Grize Dale beside Pedder's Wood and take to tarmac back to Garstang and the ford through the River Wyre near Broom Hill.

Jim and Charlie as they leave the ford on the track known as Wyre Lane, only half a mile from the end of the ride. My thanks go to Jim and Charlie for another great day out with the Fellowship. It just goes to show, don't always believe the weather forecast, see you all next time, Brian.
