26th April 2009: A ride to Heysham.

A fine sunny day at Glasson Dock for the start of our ride. We could not use the route to Sunderland point today because of the exceptionally high tide would have coincided with our expected time of arrival there. No one wanted wet feet!

The tidal bore on the river Lune as we pass beside Oxcliffe Hill on our way to Overton.

A light lunch in Heysham at the >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>Curiosity Corner tea room.

It's starting to cloud over now as we ride down Heysham's Main Street, it did stay dry for the whole ride though.

Riding down the cycle-

We arrive at the Stone Jetty in Morecambe for further sustenance, I should really have said afternoon tea, but some of us tried the ice cream.

Crossing the railway track on the level crossing behind Morecambe Golf Club, just before going under the West Coast Mainline.

Leaving the railway behind we climb up the track towards Slyne, to start the return leg of the ride on >>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>>>The towpath of the Lancaster Canal towards the City Centre.

Laura, a professional cycle technician, helps a family who had stopped with mechanical problems, whilst other members helped Anni to repair a puncture.

A nice relaxing downhill section as we leave Aldcliffe and the canal behind.

A short pause whilst Steve adds a little air into Anni's rear tyre beside the Lune Coastal Path.

The sky looking somewhat overcast as we see Glasson Dock in the distance, not far to go now.
