The Lancashire Group

Your local group of the RSF the off-road cycle touring Club

For cyclists who love off road leisure cycling in Northern England

28th June 2009: A ride to Dunsop Bridge.

Here John leads the group onto the start of the rough-stuff and the climb to Greystoneley.

Laura, Mike and Keith take the prudent option through the ford, it was incredibly slippery today.

Sol decides to ride across, which he accomplished successfully!

Leaving Greystoneley behind we start the ascent of Mellor Knoll at what is popularly know as the chicken sheds, Geoff leads the way.

Laura at the exit of the woods beside Totridge, the gentleman you can just see in trees to the left of her in the photograph is a local farmer, with a rifle on a fox hunt.

The descent of Mellor Knoll looking towards the Trough of Bowland.

Everyone arrives safely at Haredon, except for >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Steve, who is riding 'sweeper' today, and had been busy closing the gates.

Here we are assembled outside of the village hall in Dunsop Bridge were we had our lunch. We were met here by Simeon and Peter, who had ridden down from Lancaster to join us.

Simeon leads the way from Burnholme Bridge to Lickhurst Farm, and the start of the track towards Saddle End.

Here we are on the track, locally known as the Seven Splashes

Mike successfully crosses one of the larger splashes, and the only one today, following the dry spell.

Keith studies the route through, before committing himself, and makes another successful crossing.

Here's Jim, on his first outing with us, making a splash. His second actually, he enjoyed it so much the first time that he went back for another go!

John leads the group on the long descent back to Chipping and a welcome cuppa at the Cobbled corner.
