9th April 2009: A ride to Ramsbottom.

Brian M, Steve and John on Holcombe Moor car park ready for the off. The Peel Monument is visible on the horizon, having been cloud covered up to a few minutes ago.

The Holcombe Church steeple in the background as we climb past Harcles Hill.

The gentle downhill to our crossing of the Rossendale Way, just before our arrival at >>>>>>>>>

Robin Hood's Well on the flanks of Bull Hill. We decided not to take the waters.

Yes, it really was Robin Hood's Well!

Morning coffee at the tea room in Helmshore.

On route six of the Sustrans National Cycleway, beside the river Ogden, approaching Irwell Vale.

Still on route six, passing through Irwell Vale.

John ducking through the tunnel at the entrance to Nuttall Park, Ramsbottom.

A little light lunch for myself and John, whilst Steve and Brian >>>>>>>>>>>

Had something more substantial at >>>>>>>>>>

Park Farm Tea Room, just above Ramsbottom. Good food, good service and at the right price, what more can I say!

The ascent of Harden Moor, on the track from Shuttleworth to Cheesden.

Here we are at the top of the climb, with the Scout Moor wind farm on the horizon.

This is the afternoon tea stop, at >>>>>>>>>>

Falshaws Farm Shop and Cafe, near Walmersley.

Heading back to the start now on the bye-

On the Wood Road track making our way to Greenmount.

The men in blue riding through Holcombe Brook Wood, I always thought that Robin Hood's men wore Lincoln Green.

Brian M, riding up (it looks as though he's going downhill!) the last hill of the ride into the village of Holcombe. I hope to you all again soon, Brian P.
