Sunday 31st January 2010: A ride to Halsall.

The start of today's ride, Southport Eco Centre.

Approaching the view point at Birkdale.

Here we are at the top, on the view point above Royal Birkdale Golf Club.

A swift cuppa before the ride across >>>>>>>>>>>>

>>>>>>> Halsall Moss, the road was still snow covered and icy.

Crossing the rickety bridge over the ditch half way across the moss.

Safely across, we re-group for the ride through Halsall to Lydiate.

Crossing the bridge over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Lydiate.

Our lunch destination, Sefton Meadows Garden Centre. Here we were met by Anne who had ridden over to join the twelve of us for lunch.

We rode from our lunch stop to the Trans Pennine Trail, and after a short distance, turned left onto this track through the fields towards the River Alt.

We arrive at the river crossing, Showrick Bridge.

Here is the information board to prove it!

Anni befriends a stranger by the shore at Crosby, near the coastguard station.

Inland now we ride between the railway and the Altcar Firing Range.

After crossing the River Alt again we leave the firing range behind and head towards Formby.

Crossing the railway just before the pinewoods at Formby, and the last leg of today's thirty five mile run. Our thanks go to Dug Heaven for organising and leading this ride, which was enjoyed by all. Thanks Dug! See you all next time. Brian.
