This Week’s Ride

This week's ride on Saturday the 20th of March will be from Quinta Hall, Weston Rhyn, Shropshire, starting at 2-30pm.

Riding from Quinta Hall towards Weston Rhyn and Chirk, then joining the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal. Heading north we will arrive at the canal tunnel beside Bryn-yr-Eos, it isn't too dark once inside, is quite straight and has a handrail on the 'wet' side, but you may prefer to have a torch or a good headlight on your cycle, or walk! Staying on the towpath we will cross Offa's Dyke into Wales, arguably with the nicest population and scenery of any country in the UK. The next feature of the ride is the Pont-Cysyllte Viaduct, this carries the canal over the River Dee, cycling is not allowed on the viaduct, but if we have time we can walk over it and visit the town of Trevor. The return journey simply retraces our outward route, the whole trip being about 15 easy miles.

Some of our family group members in the ruined keep of the replica of Liverpool Castle at Rivington.
